Perennials: a gardener's best friend.

Peony is a garden favorite.Want beautiful flowers each year without the work of re-planting?

Choose perennials. These are plants that grow back each year, spreading, re-seeding themselves and producing clumps that can be divided and transplanted for a profusion of plants.

Many gardening clubs have perennial trades and give-aways, as do many local Cooperative Extension Services.

In addition, perennials come in a wide range of colors, textures, heights, growing habits and sun or shade requirements. For a truly carefree garden, these gems can't be beat.

Here are some wonderful easy-care perennials to consider adding to your garden:

Achillea

Balloon Flower

Butterfly Bush

Chrysanthemum

Clematis

Coreopsis

Echinacea

Felicia

Lavender

Liatris

Penstemon

Peony
